.NET/Database Developer Position (1 Year Contract)

The Heinz-Nixdorf-Chair for Distributed Information Systems at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (Germany) invites applications for a .Net/Database developer position (for the purpose of one year parental leave replacement) in the data management project of the Biodiversity Exploratories (BE) Priority Program.

What this is about

The data management project provides the platform for data storage and information exchange for the projects of the DFG Priority Program “Biodiversity Exploratories“. Examples of the thematic focus of the projects include botany, forestry, soil, animal, fluxes, modeling, and remote sensing.

Under this project, we develop tools for upload, storage, documentation, discovery (search), retrieval, integration and analysis of dataset that is collected by several researchers in different parts of Germany. At the moment, we are also collaborating with several other projects in the development of an improved version of our data repository application (BEXIS2, http://bexis2.uni-jena.de/).

Job Description

- Module development for BEXIS2, testing, bug-fixing and documentation

- User requirements collection and analysis

- Provision of user support services

Requirements

- University degree in computer science, biodiversity informatics, bioinformatics or a related discipline

- Experience with development of .NET web applications particularly using C#, MVC. Knowledge of ASP.NET, ORM is a plus

- Experience in writing SQL, and working with databases in general

- Familiarity with source code management systems is a plus

- Highly motivated team player

- Good knowledge of English

- Authorization to work in Germany

This is a 50% or 100% position (depending on your preference) and it is paid according to up to EG-E 13 (TV-L) depending on your qualifications.  You will be working in an international and integrative environment.
