Course Program
Exam Guidelines
The exam consists of a group project with a presentation, a test on advanced SQL, and an individual oral examination.
Group project (40% of the final grade):
The project must be carried out in a group consisting of 2 or 3 candidates. The topic must be agreed in advance with the instructors and must be inherent to the course program. The project must include:
- a design part, an experimental implementation and/or comparison/experimentation part of software systems for the management of big data applied to a particular domain identified for the project;
- a short report (max. 4 pages) to describe the activity carried out;
- a repository with the produced code.
Project presentation:
Short presentation (max. 20 minutes) by the project team: presentation of the problem, approach used to solve it, critical analysis of the experience, and conclusions. A discussion of the project will follow with questions. Each candidate must present the part of the project for which he is responsible. The date for the presentation can be agreed with professors on the Microsoft Teams class. It can be done on the same date defined for the individual oral exam of some members of the group, or on a previous date.
Test on advanced SQL (30% of the final grade):
The test can be taken during the lesson break in November, on the dates published on esse3, or as the first step of the individual oral exam.
Individual oral exam (30% of the final grade):
The individual oral exam, consisting of three open questions per candidate that can range across the entire program, represents the last step and its date can be agreed with professors on the Microsoft Teams class.
